Exam note: CBSE Class 8 is a school-assessed year: CBSE issues no Class VIII syllabus or question-paper pattern, and schools teach from the NCERT NCF-SE 2023 textbooks (Reprint 2026-27). Social Science uses Exploring Society: India and Beyond (Grade 8), Part 1 (7 chapters) and Part 2 (8 chapters), organised by themes rather than separate history, geography, civics and economics books. Part 2 Chapter 4, The Role of the Judiciary in Our Society, was rewritten in 2026 on the directions of the Supreme Court (NCERT acknowledgements, Reprint 2026-27).
