A leading communication company 'Savera' is sponsoring a half marathon run in your city to raise funds for 'Koshish' an orphanage. You are Roshini/Roshan, school captain of Adarsh Vidyalaya. You are leading a batch of hundred students in the half marathon to be held in your city.

Write a letter to the editor of a national daily emphasizing the participation of school children in such programmes as part of voluntary community service. Highlight the benefits of participation in such activities.

    Through your newspaper I wish to draw attention to the half marathon sponsored by Savera to raise funds for Koshish, an orphanage. As school captain of Adarsh Vidyalaya, I am leading a batch of a hundred students in this run.

    School children should join such programmes as voluntary community service. It sensitises them to the needs of the less fortunate and builds empathy, teamwork, discipline and fitness. They also learn that small efforts together can bring real change and that they have a duty to society.

    I urge schools and parents to encourage students to take part in such events.
