Hints

Open one hint at a time and try again before the next.

Hint 1

Is the theory both appreciated and criticised?

Hint 2

Does R say why it is criticised?

Step-by-step solution

Each step shows the marks it earns, as an examiner would award them. Checked by an independent re-solve from the question paper.

  1. The Assertion is true: Maslow's theory is widely recognised yet criticised. The Reason is true: it explains motivation through needs, but its classification and hierarchy of needs are questioned.

  2. The questioning of the classification and hierarchy is exactly why the theory is criticised, so R correctly explains A. Option (D).

    1 mark

Answer: (D) Both Assertion (A) and Reason (R) are true, and Reason (R) is the correct explanation of the Assertion.

Where the marks are
