Open one hint at a time and try again before the next.

Hint 1

What produces peristaltic waves in the gut?

Hint 2

Check whether R describes the cause of A.

Step-by-step solution

Each step shows the marks it earns, as an examiner would award them. Checked by an independent re-solve from the question paper.

  1. A is true: peristalsis occurs all along the gut, from the oesophagus to the intestines.

  2. R is true and is the cause of A: the rhythmic contraction of muscles in the gut lining is exactly what produces these peristaltic movements. Answer: (A).
