e-Banking: Features, Cards, ATMs and Mobile Banking (ISC Class 11)

Updated 17 October 2026 · Fact-checked

e-Banking means carrying out banking services such as balance enquiry, fund transfer, bill payment and deposits through electronic channels (internet, mobile phone, ATM, cards) without visiting a branch. Its features are 24-hour service, speed, convenience and lower cost; its disadvantages include security risks, dependence on technology and the need for digital literacy.

Notice that every channel connects to the bank, and that a debit card pays from your balance now while a credit card lets you pay later.
