Why Digital Wellness Belongs in Our Curriculum
By Smitha Jinan, Class 12, SVA Public School, Thrissur - 2 marks
Content: Doom-scrolling is fast becoming a habit among teenagers. Hours vanish into endless feeds. Algorithms feed us content that holds our attention, often negative or sensational, and this shapes our thoughts. The effects show in anxiety, restlessness, a shorter attention span and falling academic focus. Schools are the best place to teach responsible digital habits. A Digital Wellness course could teach how algorithms work, screen-time management and critical thinking.
