Content: Through your columns I wish to draw attention to the growing food wastage at weddings, parties and gatherings in our city. Tonnes of edible food are dumped every week while many families sleep hungry. This also leads to waste in landfills, methane emissions and a loss of water and energy used to produce it. I propose a Community Food Redistribution Initiative. Event hosts could be encouraged to tie up with NGOs and food banks to collect surplus food safely. Trained student and community volunteers would handle collection and distribution. Schools and caterers could promote responsible consumption by serving measured portions.

I request your readers to support this effort. Together we can feed the hungry and protect our environment.
