Hints

Open one hint at a time and try again before the next.

Hint 1

A good can be final or intermediate depending on who buys it and why.

Hint 2

Is the dealer the final user of the printer?

Step-by-step solution

Each step shows the marks it earns, as an examiner would award them. Checked by an independent re-solve from the question paper.

  1. No, I do not agree. Not all the goods are final goods.

  2. The machinery bought from Germany is a final good: it is a capital good used for investment, not used up or resold within the year.

    1 mark
  3. Printers sold to households (and those exported) are final goods: they reach their final users for consumption.

    1 mark
  4. Printers sold to dealers are intermediate goods, because they are bought for resale within the same year.

    1 mark
  5. Final goods are goods meant for final consumption or investment; intermediate goods are goods used for further production or for resale during the same year.

Answer: Disagree: machinery and printers sold to households are final goods, but printers sold to dealers for resale are intermediate goods.
