Hints
Open one hint at a time and try again before the next.
Hint 1
Value added = output − intermediate consumption.
Hint 2
GDCF already includes the change in stock.
Hint 3
Depreciation is not needed for GDP.
Step-by-step solution
Each step shows the marks it earns, as an examiner would award them. Checked by an independent re-solve from the question paper.
- ½ mark
Value-added method: GDP at MP = Value of output − Intermediate consumption = (ii) − (viii)
- ½ mark
= 1,900 − 330
- ½ mark
= ₹ 1,570 crore
- ½ mark
Expenditure method: GDP at MP = PFCE + GFCE + Gross domestic capital formation + Net exports = (i) + (iii) + (iv) + (vii). (Change in stock is already part of gross domestic capital formation and is not added again.)
- ½ mark
= 500 + 400 + 600 + 70
- ½ mark
= ₹ 1,570 crore. Both methods give the same GDP at market price.
Answer: GDP at MP = ₹ 1,570 crore by both the value-added and the expenditure method.
