Hints

Open one hint at a time and try again before the next.

Hint 1

Mr Himank ignored routine matters and focused on one large deviation.

Hint 2

What follows analysing deviations in the controlling process?

Step-by-step solution

Each step shows the marks it earns, as an examiner would award them. Checked by an independent re-solve from the question paper.

  1. A) The principle applied is Management by Exception: trying to control everything results in controlling nothing, so only significant deviations beyond the permissible limit (here, maintenance expenses) are brought to top management's notice.

    2 marks
  2. B) The next step is Taking Corrective Action: as the deviation is beyond the acceptable range in an important area, its cause must be removed so it does not recur and standards are achieved; if it cannot be corrected, the standards may be revised.

    2 marks

Answer: A) Management by Exception. B) Taking Corrective Action.
