Hints

Open one hint at a time and try again before the next.

Hint 1

Check A and R separately.

Hint 2

Does R give the reason for A, or a related point?

Step-by-step solution

Each step shows the marks it earns, as an examiner would award them. Checked by an independent re-solve from the question paper.

  1. A is true: management aims at efficient use of resources (doing the task at minimum cost). R is true: management must balance efficiency with effectiveness (completing the task on time).

  2. R adds that effectiveness must be balanced too, but it does not explain why management is concerned with efficiency, so it is not the correct explanation. Option (B).

    1 mark

Answer: (B) Both Assertion (A) and Reason (R) are true and Reason (R) is not the correct explanation of Assertion (A)

Where the marks are

  • Both true, not the explanation (1 mark)
