Hints
Open one hint at a time and try again before the next.
Hint 1
Leave the goodwill out of Kavita's capital.
Hint 2
New ratio: the old partners give up 1/5 in 3 : 2.
Step-by-step solution
Each step shows the marks it earns, as an examiner would award them. Checked by an independent re-solve from the question paper.
Kavita's capital = ₹ 3,00,000 − ₹ 30,000 = ₹ 2,70,000 for 1/5, so total capital = ₹ 13,50,000. Her share comes from the old partners in 3 : 2, so the new ratio is 12 : 8 : 5.
- 1 mark
Savita's capital = 8/25 × ₹ 13,50,000 = ₹ 4,32,000. Option (A).
Answer: (A) ₹4,32,000
Where the marks are
- Total capital ₹ 13,50,000; Savita's 8/25 (1 mark)
