- 1 mark
(a) Change in surplus = (₹ 1,00,000). Add back the dividend for 2022-23 paid this year ₹ 1,50,000 and tax provided ₹ 1,20,000: profit before tax = ₹ 1,70,000. Add goodwill written off ₹ 50,000: operating profit before working capital changes = ₹ 2,20,000.
- 2 marks
Add increase in trade payables ₹ 50,000; less increase in trade receivables ₹ 40,000: cash generated = ₹ 2,30,000. Less tax paid ₹ 1,00,000 (provision ₹ 1,00,000 + ₹ 1,20,000 − ₹ 1,20,000): cash flow from operating activities ₹ 1,30,000.
- 2 marks
(b) Accumulated depreciation: 4,00,000 + 3,50,000 − 10,000 (machine lost) − closing 6,50,000 = ₹ 90,000 on the machine sold. Machine sold: book value 2,50,000 − 90,000 = ₹ 1,60,000, sold at ₹ 20,000 loss for ₹ 1,40,000.
Particulars ₹ Particulars ₹ To Balance b/d 20,00,000 By Accumulated Depreciation (machine lost) 10,000 To Bank A/c (purchases, balancing figure) 11,00,000 By Insurance claim 32,000 By Loss by fire 8,000 By Bank A/c (sale) 1,40,000 By Loss on sale 20,000 By Accumulated Depreciation (machine sold) 90,000 By Balance c/d 28,00,000 31,00,000 31,00,000 - 1 mark
