Hints
Open one hint at a time and try again before the next.
Hint 1
The total height includes the hemisphere's height, which equals its radius.
Hint 2
Inner surface = curved surface of cylinder + curved surface of hemisphere (no top, no base).
Step-by-step solution
Each step shows the marks it earns, as an examiner would award them. Checked by an independent re-solve from the question paper.
- ½ mark
Radius cm. Height of cylindrical part cm.
- 1 mark
Inner curved surface area of cylinder cm²
- 1 mark
Inner curved surface area of hemisphere cm²
- ½ mark
Inner surface area of vessel cm²
Answer: 572 cm²
Where the marks are
- Finds cm and cylinder height 6 cm (½ mark)
- CSA of cylinder cm² (1 mark)
- CSA of hemisphere cm² (1 mark)
- Total 572 cm² (½ mark)
