Hints
Open one hint at a time and try again before the next.
Hint 1
The height of the cone equals its diameter, which is 2 × 7.
Hint 2
Add and , taking common.
Step-by-step solution
Each step shows the marks it earns, as an examiner would award them. Checked by an independent re-solve from the question paper.
- 1 mark
Radius of cone = radius of hemisphere cm. Height of cone = diameter cm.
- 3 marks
Volume of solid = volume of hemisphere + volume of cone .
- 1 mark
cm³.
Answer: Volume = cm³ ≈ 1437.33 cm³
Where the marks are
- Takes r = 7 cm and cone height 14 cm (1 mark)
- Correct volume of hemisphere and of cone substituted (1½ + 1½ marks)
- Final volume cm³ ≈ 1437.33 cm³ (1 mark)
