Hints

Open one hint at a time and try again before the next.

Hint 1

Write as RWA President in formal format, with a subject line.

Hint 2

State the problems first, then what you request.

Hint 3

Link the requests to the safety and health of walkers.

Step-by-step solution

Each step shows the marks it earns, as an examiner would award them. Checked by an independent re-solve from the question paper.

  1. Format: sender's address (President, RWA, Senatown), date, the Director, Municipal Board and address, salutation 'Sir/Madam', subject 'Maintenance of colony parks, lighting and walking tracks', complimentary close 'Yours faithfully', and name (Rita/Raghav Mishra).

    1 mark
  2. Content, problems: Our colony parks are ill-maintained, the street lights are poor or missing and the walking tracks are broken and uneven, so the community space is unsafe, especially for elderly walkers after dusk. Stray animals add to the danger.

    1 mark
  3. Content, requests: Please arrange regular upkeep of the parks, install lighting poles along the paths and repair the tracks. Safe, well-lit spaces will encourage daily exercise.

    1 mark
  4. Organisation: formal tone and a logical order of introduction, problems, requests and thanks.

    1 mark
  5. Accuracy: correct spelling, punctuation and grammar.
