Open one hint at a time and try again before the next.

Hint 1

Compare pay and regularity in the two sectors.

Hint 2

What benefits does an organised-sector worker get?

Hint 3

Which sector can fire workers without reason?

Step-by-step solution

Each step shows the marks it earns, as an examiner would award them. Checked by an independent re-solve from the question paper.

  1. Sunil's unorganised sector has small, scattered units that are largely outside government control. The rules exist but are not followed. Jobs are low-paid and irregular.

    1 mark
  2. There is no overtime pay, paid leave, holiday pay or sick leave, whereas Raman in the organised sector gets these, along with provident fund, gratuity, medical benefits and a pension.

    1 mark
  3. Employment is insecure: workers can be asked to leave without reason or in slack seasons, and much depends on the employer's whims. Raman enjoys job security and fixed working hours.

    1 mark

Answer: Sunil is dissatisfied because his job is low-paid, has no benefits and is insecure, unlike Raman's.

Where the marks are
