CBSE Class 10 Science sample paper 2025-26: question 34(B)
From the official CBSE sample question paper for 2025-26, section C, question 34(B), for 2 marks. Try it first; the hints and our step-by-step solution are below.
Q34(B) · 2 marks · Case-basedCompetency-basedElectricity
Study the circuit and find out-
- (i)1 mark
Current in 12 ohm resistor.
- (ii)1 mark
Difference in the readings of ammeter A1 and A2 if any.
Figure in the paper: Circuit: a 6 V battery with a 12 Ω resistor in series. Two 24 Ω resistors are connected in parallel between two junctions, with ammeter A1 in series on the right side of the parallel combination, and ammeter A2 in the lower wire in series with the battery. See it in the official paper.

Hints
Open one hint at a time and try again before the next.
Hint 1
Combine the two 24 Ω resistors first.
Hint 2
In a series path, is the current different at different points?
Step-by-step solution
Each step shows the marks it earns, as an examiner would award them. Checked by an independent re-solve from the question paper.
(i) Parallel part:
- 1 mark
Total resistance . Then A. The 12 Ω resistor is in series with the battery, so the current in it is 0.25 A.
- 1 mark
(ii) Both A₁ and A₂ are in the main (series) line, and current is the same everywhere in a series path. So they show the same reading (0.25 A) and there is no difference.
Answer: (i) 0.25 A; (ii) No difference, A₁ and A₂ read the same
Where the marks are
- R_p = 12 Ω, R_T = 24 Ω, I = 0.25 A (1 mark)
- Same readings of A₁ and A₂ (1 mark)
