Q23 · 2 marks · Very short answerCoordinate Geometry

Hints

Open one hint at a time and try again before the next.

Hint 1

What property do the diagonals of a parallelogram have?

Hint 2

Mid-point of AC must equal mid-point of BD; compare x- and y-coordinates.

Step-by-step solution

Each step shows the marks it earns, as an examiner would award them. Checked by an independent re-solve from the question paper.

  1. The diagonals of a parallelogram bisect each other, so mid-point of AC = mid-point of BD:

    1 mark
  2. ½ mark
  3. ½ mark

Answer: m = 7, n = 2

Where the marks are

  • Equates the mid-points of diagonals AC and BD (1 mark)
  • Finds m = 7 (½ mark)
  • Finds n = 2 (½ mark)
