E-commerce. Carrying on commercial activities, especially the buying and selling of goods and services and the related payments, through electronic networks, chiefly the internet. It covers online display, ordering, payment, delivery tracking and after-sales service. Services are traded online too: tickets, hotel bookings, food delivery, online courses and bill payments.

Types by the parties involved.
1. Business to consumer (B2C): a business sells to final consumers (an online store selling clothes).
2. Business to business (B2B): one business sells to another (a manufacturer ordering raw materials from a supplier's portal).
3. Consumer to consumer (C2C): consumers sell to each other through a platform (a used bicycle on a classifieds website).
4. Consumer to business (C2B): individuals offer products or services to businesses (a freelance photographer selling photos to companies).

E-trade. The buying and selling of goods, services or financial securities by electronic means. The term is most often used for online trading in shares, bonds, mutual funds and other securities through a broker's online platform or app connected to a stock exchange.
How online share trading works in brief: (1) the investor opens a trading account with a broker and a demat account (shares held in electronic form) linked to a bank account; (2) places a buy or sell order on the app; (3) the order is matched on the stock exchange; (4) money and shares are transferred electronically.
