Awareness Poster (Class 11 English Core): Slogan, Layout and Model Answers
Updated 17 October 2026 · Fact-checked
A poster of up to 50 words carries 3 marks (format 1, content 1, expression 1). Put it in a box with a bold heading or slogan, two or three short lines of key information, an action line, the name of the issuing body and a simple symbol or sketch. Use few words, big letters and a catchy, persuasive tone.
Notice the order of parts: issuing body, bold slogan, symbol, short facts, then a call to action, all inside a box.

Understand Awareness Poster: Slogan, Layout and Model Answers
Purpose. A poster must catch the eye from a distance and persuade. An awareness poster promotes a message such as saving water, road safety or no plastic; it gives a reason to act and a clear action.
Layout. (1) A box around the poster. (2) The issuing body at the top, such as the name of your school club, in small capitals. (3) A bold slogan or heading in large letters. (4) Two or three short lines of information, with bullets if helpful. (5) A call to action. (6) A simple sketch or symbol, shown briefly in the answer sheet as a note or a quick drawing.
Slogans. Good slogans are short (usually under eight words) and memorable. They use rhyme ("Be bright, switch off the light"), repetition ("Save water, save life"), a question or a direct command. They should be original and suit the message.
Content. The question gives a theme and sometimes a few cues. Cover the reason, the benefit and the action. Do not write paragraphs; each line should be a phrase.
Expression. Use the imperative (Walk, Plant, Donate), keep the language positive and use correct spelling. Do not exceed 50 words, and do not mix in details that are unrelated to the message.
Marking. Format 1 (box, heading, issuing body), content 1 (relevant message and action), expression 1 (catchy and correct). Neighbouring topics (event posters) are on the chapter page.
